Coming Home Again (Thank You).

“There is nothing half so pleasant as coming home again…”

One month to go.  The whirlwind, year-long tour is almost at an end.  Although we still have a few trips left I wanted to take a moment from our house hunting and wrapping up to say:  Thank you.

 Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this year.  A year of incredible change.  A year of incredible experiences.  A year of luck.  A year of love.  A year of lonely.   A year of pluck.  It’s been…a whirlwind.

This year we fed elephants from our breakfast table, watched the sunrise over ancient temples,  we took overnight trains with hipsters backpackers, and kayaked in paradise.  We have taken more flights and stayed in more hotels than I can count.  It has been an adventure and an odyssey.

It has also been challenge.  This year we gave birth abroad, got sick abroad, we celebrated Halloween, and Christmas and birthdays abroad.  Time zones separated easy conversation and at times friends felt distant and few.  The language barrier alone was enough to do me in on some days (most days).

Great opportunity always comes with some sacrifice.  This was the greatest of opportunities and the sacrifice was losing a year with all of you.  While the seasons have changed from summer to fall to winter to spring and back to summer again for all of you – we have lived in one perpetual summer.  We are looking forward to the seasons.  We are looking forward to sharing in those seasons (and life’s changes) with all of you.

So as fate takes us home again to the East (some would say best) coast we look forward to the upcoming reunion and we offer a sincere thank you to everyone who helped us along the way.

Stayed tuned.  More adventures await!

“Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad; whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has seen.”
