Dolphin Bay 2:  The Return of the Banana.

Anna’s first dip in the ocean.

The grandparents are in town!  We decided to take Grandma and Pop-Pop to one of our favorite places in Thailand, the Dolphin Bay Resort.  Dolphin Bay Resort is located in Ban Sam Roi Yat, just south of Hua Hin.

We love Dolphin Bay because it is kid friendly and in a great location (it is driving distance from Bangkok, near the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, and is conveniently right on the beach).  The resort has three pools, a large wooden playground, an indoor playroom, a restaurant and nanny services.  It’s easy to let your kids play while drinking by the pool or on the beach.  The restaurant serves pretty good Thai and western food and decent drinks.  We have decided that Dolphin Bay will be our go to location for short, quick weekend trips out of the city.

Traditional Thai soup and a cocktail.
Buffet fit for a kid.
Gin and tonics on the beach.

The kids love Dolphin Bay.  Jack loves hanging out at the playground and walking as far as possible out into the ocean.  Sam loves the pool, complete with waterslide.  And, yes, we now have a pet clam living in our kitchen sink because the boys found him on the beach and fell in love.

Jack prefers the playground . Sam prefers the pool.

Dolphin Bay also holds a special place in our hearts because it was where we went for our first family trip with Anna.  She was only a few weeks old then.  Now, she is a whopping two months!  During this trip we decided to let her take a quick dip in the ocean.  We thought she would love the water.   It is so warm and clear and she just loves bath time.  She wasn’t exactly ecstatic but she held it together.  I am sure she will end up loving the beach as much as her brothers.

Helping Jack get set up.
Neither excited nor disappointed.

Unfortunately, I had to leave Sunday night to go back to work.  I took a commuter bus home to Bangkok while everyone else stayed an extra day at the beach.  While I was gone everyone took a trip out to monkey island, a small island just off the beach with hundreds of monkeys.  Hundreds of aggressive, little monkeys.

Sam, Jack and Anna have really enjoyed having their family around.  They loved hanging out at the beach with their grandparents.  It is going to be so very sad to say good-bye this week.
